PA State Parks: Raymond B. Winter

One sunny fall day, we drove into the Raymond B. Winter State Park, parked in one of the main parking lots, and started walking downhill. We walked past a pavilion and a nice playground with one of those fun diggers like a miniature backhoe for kids. Ahead we could see the lake glistening through the trees. we saw a huge beach stretching left and right along the whole one side. Looking left, we noticed a super climbing structure for kids right on the beach.

After walking back up to the parking lot, we climbed back into our car and drove around to the other side of the lake. There we enjoyed the sight of water running over a beautiful stone work dam and boats with fishermen blending in with the calm surface of the lake.

One more drive took us to a higher elevation where we found a viewing platform overlooking an attractive scene of woodland and lake.

The short autumn visit was great. A longer summer one would probably be even better!
